Sewing paper valentines
Published by Shannon February 3rd, 2007 in Contests, TechniquesCRAFT’s Valentine contest deadline is the 9th, so start stitching!
Need inspiration? Check these out: one, two, three, four, and in the “they made a what?” department, this mini sewing machine for papercrafters.
(Trust me, you don’t need one of those. Your regular machine or a 10-cent sewing needle will do just fine).
When sewing fabric onto paper, don’t forget the 3-D aspect. Yarn is great because you can couch it onto the page, on top of the fabric or by itself, and get a whole new look. Or stitch a simple pattern with embroidery floss — I’ve done that for birthday cards. Just remember that the smaller the needle you use the better, particularly on cardstock, because unlike fabric, the holes you make in paper won’t self-heal with a little shake.
